MAC Services Group will manufacture mining accommodation at Edinburgh Park, South Australia.

A mining accommodation company is about to open a manufacturing plant in northern Adelaide.

The MAC Services Group says the factory at Edinburgh Park will create about 100 jobs when it opens in March.

The company builds transportable housing units for mine sites in Western Australia, New South Wales and the Northern Territory.

Executive chairman Kevin Maloney says the company is also hoping to pick up business from South Australia's mining boom.

"There are quite a few new mines. It's a matter of now working with those to let them know we are here, let them know we are close to you know, what's happening and do our best," he said.

Mr Maloney says Adelaide makes financial sense as a base.

"We weighed up the pros and cons of transport costs and did our sums on it and we can be very competitive from here."
