The MAC appoints Regional Manager to grow WA business

Following its successful listing on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) this week, mining accommodation and services company The MAC Services Group (ASX: MSL) has appointed a Regional Manager based in Perth as part of its expansion plans into the booming Western Australian economy.

Mr Andrew Tate is being transferred from the MAC’s Brisbane office to WA and brings almost 25 years experience in mining support services to the company. Mr Tate was previously with Spotless Services Limited where his roles included Client Services Manager in Queensland and Operations Manager in WA.

The MAC successfully listed on the ASX on 12 April at a healthy 33 per cent premium to its offer price, after raising more than $73 million via an initial public offer. A core reason for the capital raising is to grow the company from its Queensland heartland into other mining and resource regions, both in Australia and overseas.

According to The MAC’s Chief Operating Officer, Chris Jury, the company is already making positive steps into building the business in WA.

“We are in discussions with companies in relation to projects in WA’s mid-west and Pilbara regions. The appointment of a regional manager in WA will help expedite opportunities for The MAC in this market,” Mr Jury said.

“Andrew brings outstanding credentials in managing remote accommodation sites to The MAC which, when combined with the extensive mining operations experience already existent within the company, bolster our service offering to clients.”

The MAC commenced supplying large-scale, serviced accommodation to the coal mining, construction, resources and tourism industries in the Bowen Basin, Queensland in 1996.

The MAC’s fully-integrated business model allows it to partner with mining companies and their suppliers to remove the administrative burden of providing and sourcing accommodation and ancillary services such as site management, cleaning, catering, training and entertainment.

The MAC has secured office space in West Perth from which to run its WA operations.
