Clean and Green - The MAC’s Environmental Credentials

WATER
The lack of water is a serious issue in the resources industry. Most towns are on severe water restrictions with the issue compounded by new mines requiring large allocations of water.

Wherever possible The MAC recycles water from operations at our Villages for landscaping purposes, resulting in significant savings that ultimately benefit the local community.

The MAC also installs low-flow shower heads (9 litres/minute) and dual-flush toilets in all rooms to minimise water usage.

POWER
One of the major uses of power in an accommodation facility such as The MAC’s is the generation of hot water. The MAC is using new technology, similar to a heat pump, called a quantum titan commercial solar system. This method of heating works by extracting heat from the atmosphere, saving up to 75% of power compared to other standard systems.

FUEL
In order to save on fuel and operating costs The MAC has a number of electric-powered carts. These will be used instead of utility vehicles for transport around sites.

WASTE MINIMISATION
The MAC has commissioned an external consultant to report on waste generation at our sites. A waste management and minimisation plan has been implemented.
